Hi, I’m Sarah — welcome to Family Tips Daily
I’m Sarah Miller, a mom of three, a former preschool teacher, and the writer behind Family Tips Daily. I live in Austin, Texas with my husband, our kids (ages 9, 6, and 3), and a Golden Retriever who thinks she’s the fourth child. This blog is the place where I share what I’ve learned — from classrooms, from late-night googling, and from making every possible parenting mistake firsthand.
Before the Blog
For eight years I taught pre-K and kindergarten in public and private schools across Central Texas. I loved that work. Watching a four-year-old figure out how to write their name, or help a shy kid find the courage to join circle time, is the kind of quiet magic that stays with you. When our second baby arrived and the cost of daycare for two kids started to eat a whole paycheck, I stepped out of the classroom and into full-time parenting — a job that, as any parent knows, is equal parts wonderful and bewildering.
Why I Started Family Tips Daily
In the blur of those early years, I kept searching online for practical answers — how do I get a toddler to sleep through the night, what actually works for sibling squabbles, how do I stop yelling when I’m exhausted — and kept finding either glossy lifestyle content that didn’t match my real life or dense academic articles that left me more stressed, not less. I started writing the blog I wished I’d had: honest, specific, grounded in child development but written for tired parents who just need something that works by Tuesday.
What You’ll Find Here
Family Tips Daily covers the full stretch of modern American family life: positive discipline and emotional regulation, sleep and feeding, school and learning, screen time, family finances, holidays and traditions, and the balancing act of working parenthood. I write about my own family when it helps, and I bring in expert voices — pediatricians, family therapists, educators — when the topic calls for more than my own experience.
Our Editorial Values
Three things guide what runs on this site. First, real-life usable — if a tip requires a three-hour Pinterest setup or a Montessori budget most families don’t have, it doesn’t belong here. Second, kind and non-judgmental — parenting is already hard enough without strangers on the internet making you feel worse. Third, honest about sponsorships — when a post is sponsored, we say so at the top, and we only partner with brands I’d actually let near my own kids.
Thanks for being here. Grab a coffee (or reheat the one from three hours ago — I get it) and poke around. If something I’ve written helped, or if you want to share what’s worked in your family, I’d love to hear from you.
